What is the Silhouette InstaLift?

Silhouette InstaLift is an FDA-approved non-surgical approach to lifting the cheeks and jowls. Delicate, self anchoring sutures are used to reposition the facial structures, which can shift over time as part of the aging process. The sutures are composed of absorbable poly L lactic acid (PLGA), which has a biostimulatory effect leading to the placement of new collagen to support the lifting of the soft tissue and skin in the face. Unlike a classic surgical facelift, which primarily addresses skin laxity, the Silhouette InstaLift provides both skin tightening and repositioning of volume in the face. The treatment can lead to softening of the nasolabial folds and marionette lines.

The procedure has minimal downtime with quicker recovery as compared to undergoing a surgical facelift.

What can be expected during the procedure?

Silhouette InstaLift takes under an hour and is performed in the office with local anesthetic. The areas of lifting are demarcated prior to the procedure to focus on areas of concern in the mid and lower face. Risks are minimal and patients can drive themselves to and from the procedure, as sedation is not required for the procedure.

What are the advantages of the Silhouette InstaLift?

Silhouette InstaLift is an optimal procedure for anyone interested in refreshing their appearance by addressing mid-face sagging and jowling without the downtime of a surgical facelift, which is major surgery. The procedure is safe (FDA-approved), provides instant results that continue to improve due to the biostimulatory effect of the sutures, has minimal downtime, and is comfortable enough to be performed under local anesthesia alone.

What can be expected during the recovery period?

Unlike incisional surgical facelifts, the Silhouette Instalift has minimal downtime and recovery. You can often return to work or social activities within a day. There may be swelling, redness, or bruising immediately after the procedure. You will need to avoid heavy activity and pressure on the face for 2 weeks. You will need to maintain a light diet without aggressive chewing so as to ensure the sutures remain anchored to achieve optimal results.

Is Silhouette Instalift a safe procedure?

The Silhouette Instalift was FDA-approved in April of 2015. The sutures are composed of PLGA, which has been used for many years due to its ability to absorb safely and naturally in the body, and are manufactured in the United States.
