Filler Dissolver Treatment

Reset Your Aesthetic

Fillers can help patients craft their own unique, empowering appearance. However, you might need to turn the clock back on your fillers for a few reasons. When this happens, Dr. Sohrab offers hyaluronidase treatment to dissolve fillers for patients at her practice in Connecticut, including for patients from Stamford, Darien, White Plains, and Westchester County. Filler dissolver allows you to return to square one and begin anew.

What Is a
Filler Dissolver?

Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that naturally breaks down the main ingredient in dermal fillers, hyaluronic acid (HA). The treatment works by injecting this filler dissolver into areas treated by HA fillers. Once it breaks down the HA, your body can readily absorb and eliminate the material.

Patients may want to use a filler dissolver for a range of reasons, including:

  • Breaking down filler that has migrated or formed nodules under the skin.
  • Reducing overfilling or an unnatural appearance caused by poorly executed filler treatment.
  • Creating a clean slate to start with a different filler type or alternative treatment.
  • Reversing results that a patient is dissatisfied with.

Ultrasound-Guided Filler Dissolver

Dr. Sohrab also offers a more advanced treatment for dissolving fillers. An ultrasound-guided filler dissolver treatment allows for enhanced precision, making it ideal for more complex cases. For example, Juvéderm filler tends to be more difficult to dissolve due to extensive cross-linking. Ultrasound-guided treatment allows your specialist to better visualize the subdermal areas to inject, resulting in better results.

What Is a Filler Dissolver Session Like?

A filler dissolver session is much the same as an actual filler injection session. Dr. Sohrab provides these treatments in-office, allowing for a comfortable, stress-free experience that is over in minutes. A typical visit will only last about 30 minutes. However, complex cases requiring ultrasound guidance may take a little longer, depending on the amount of filler to dissolve.

A typical visit involves a few quick steps, after which you can return to your normal routine. These steps include:

  • Cleaning the treatment area
  • Applying a topical numbing cream
  • Using an ultrasound device to identify the depth and location of filler
  • Injecting hyaluronidase into the target areas
I’m blown away by Dr Sohrab. So pleased with her. I highly recommend her. She is an artist at what she does and believes less is more. I couldn’t be happier!!

Filler Dissolver FAQs

Am I a Candidate for Filler Dissolver?

Hyaluronidase works only for HA fillers, so the first step is to see what type of fillers you have. Fillers like Sculptra or Radiesse will not respond to the treatment. We then go over your goals, ensuring that dissolving your fillers is the right path forward. Dr. Sohrab takes the time to consult extensively, going over your medical history to make sure hyaluronidase will be safe for you.

Is There a Recovery Period?

Filler dissolver treatments tend to be a mild experience. Patients typically do not need to take any downtime from most daily activities. However, the experience can vary, especially depending on the number of injections you need. Some recovery elements to keep in mind include:

  • Some swelling and bruising can occur. Usually, these are mild and resolve within a week.
  • Avoid any strenuous activity until all swelling fades.
  • Be gentle with the treated areas, avoiding irritation until healed.
  • You can apply ice packs to help with the swelling.

When Can I See the Results?

Hyaluronidase begins dissolving filler immediately. From there, your body can begin absorbing it. Most patients begin noticing improvements as early as 24 to 48 hours. You should see continued improvements after that, with most patients seeing full results between 1 and 2 weeks post-treatment. Once the filler is broken down, it is gone for good. Your benefits from the treatment will be long lasting.

A single session should prove sufficient for most patients. However, complex cases may require 2 to 3 visits to fully break down the target filler.

Can I Have Fillers Again After Treatment?

You can! Many patients use filler dissolver to return to square one before a new treatment. However, you will need to wait about 2 weeks before starting a new filler regimen. By this point, hyaluronidase should have cleared out of your system and will not interfere with your new fillers.
